Our Story

From the Mekong Delta to Your Home

eQueen Handicraft began with a simple belief: the objects we live with every day should reflect the landscapes they come from and the people who make them.

Our collections are created in the Mekong Delta of southern Vietnam — a region shaped by rivers, wetlands and generations of agricultural and craft traditions. For thousands of years, communities here have lived in close relationship with water, learning how to work with natural materials that grow along riverbanks and coastal plains.

Today, that knowledge continues through the work of artisans who transform locally grown fibres into handmade objects designed for modern homes around the world.

eQueen Handicraft was developed by ECOKA Joint Stock Company as part of a long-term vision to connect traditional craftsmanship with responsible global living. Through this work, we aim not only to create beautiful homeware, but to support environmental restoration and rural livelihoods across the Mekong Delta.

A Landscape That Shapes Our Materials

The Mekong Delta is one of the most fertile river regions in Southeast Asia and one of the most important agricultural areas in the world. Nine branches of the Mekong River flow through this landscape before reaching the East Sea, creating a network of waterways that support farming, fishing and craft traditions across the region.

Many of the materials we use grow naturally within this environment.

Water hyacinth, one of our primary fibres, plays an important ecological role in freshwater ecosystems. When responsibly harvested, it helps filter river water, absorb carbon and create shelter for aquatic life, including fish species native to the Mekong River system. By transforming water hyacinth into handcrafted products, we help turn a fast-growing river plant into a meaningful resource that supports both environmental recovery and local livelihoods.

Alongside water hyacinth, we also work with seagrass and natural cotton — fibres that reflect generations of material knowledge shaped by river-based cultures.

Each piece begins with the landscape itself.

Craft Rooted in Community

Behind every basket, textile and decorative object is a network of artisans living and working across the Mekong Delta.

Many of the makers we collaborate with are women who balance weaving with family life and seasonal agricultural work. Through decentralised production systems developed by ECOKA, craft becomes a flexible and reliable source of income that allows artisans to remain close to their homes while preserving traditional knowledge.

Today, more than 600 skilled workers contribute to this regional craft ecosystem. Their experience, patience and creativity give each product its distinctive character.

By supporting village-based weaving networks, we help protect craft heritage while strengthening long-term economic resilience in rural communities.

From Circular Craft to Regenerative Design

Our work began with a commitment to replace plastic-based household materials with biodegradable natural alternatives.

Over time, this approach has developed into a broader circular craft model that connects renewable plant fibres, artisan skills and responsible production systems.

Today, we are moving further towards a regenerative framework that supports not only sustainable materials, but also the restoration of ecosystems and cultural traditions across the Mekong Delta.

Responsible harvesting of water hyacinth helps improve river environments. Supporting craft villages helps preserve local knowledge. Creating stable livelihoods helps strengthen communities facing the challenges of climate change.

Each product therefore contributes to systems that extend beyond the object itself.

Supporting Climate-Resilient Livelihoods

The Mekong Delta is one of the regions most affected globally by climate change. Rising salinity, shifting rainfall patterns and changes in river systems continue to reshape how communities live and work.

Craft production using renewable natural fibres offers an important alternative source of income that remains closely connected to local landscapes rather than extractive industrial systems.

By creating international markets for handcrafted products, we help support climate-resilient livelihoods rooted in regional ecosystems.

Materials with Meaning

At eQueen Handicraft, materials are never anonymous.

Water hyacinth reflects river environments.
Seagrass reflects coastal wetlands.
Cotton reflects textile traditions shaped by generations of makers.

Together, these fibres form the foundation of collections designed to return safely to nature at the end of their lifecycle while bringing warmth and texture into contemporary interiors.

Natural materials allow homes to stay connected to the places they come from.

A Story That Continues in Your Home

Every eQueen Handicraft piece carries a journey that begins in the waterways of the Mekong Delta and continues in homes around the world.

It carries the rhythm of rivers, the skill of artisan hands and the resilience of communities adapting to environmental change while preserving cultural identity.

At eQueen Handicraft, we believe sustainability is not only about what products are made from.

It is about what they support.

From the Mekong Delta to your home, each object becomes part of a wider story — one shaped by nature, culture and care.
